In the 9-10 years that MG Srinivas has been a filmmaker, he’s tried to do a film with Shivarajkumar multiple times. At the time, though, although the Century Star liked the ideas, he was not sure if he was at a point in his career where he could experiment with subjects and roles and if audiences would accept such drastically different characterisation. These days, he has stopped worrying about such things – the script is all that matters and if that is exciting enough, he will be onboard. Shivarajkumar, whose films are known to have a strong emotional connect, with either a mother-son sentiment, a brother-sister relationship, or the likes, will be seen in a heist thriller in which he has no love interest and the only female character is a journalist with whom he does not share screen space. Called Ghost, this is the actor’s first collaboration with Srinivas, which will be in theatres on October 19 as the sole Kannada presentation for Dasara.

But after this delayed start in getting to work with Shivarajkumar, it looks like the duo have taken a fancy for each other. While Srinivas had said that he and Shivarajkumar will reunite for Ghost 2, it now turns out they have other plans too. Speaking to Mayuraa Raghavendra during the promotions of Ghost, the Hattrick Hero spoke about the upcoming slate of his two production houses, Geetha Pictures and Sri Mutthu Cine Creations. Geetha Pictures, which was launched with his earlier film Vedha, is currently backing Bhairathi Ranagal, the sequel to Mufti, which is in production. Thereafter, the actor reckons that he will work with Srinivas on another film that he will produce, which will be based on an idea mooted by his wife, Geetha Shivarajkumar.

Bhairathi Ranagal has at least 60 days-worth of shoot pending, which the team was working on in Ballari, when Shivarajkumar had to take time off for Ghost promotions. Once he is done with Ranagal and Arjun Janya’s directorial debut 45, Shivarajkumar has not announced what he will do next. He has multiple offers in Kannada, as well as a few from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi, after his Jailer cameo became successful. The home production with Ghost could take off before Ghost 2 or vice versa, he said.
