Shiva Rajkumar is gearing up better than ever for the release of Ghost, his first major release since his cameo role in Nelson's Jailer blew up. The 61-year-old actor is unusually swamped with promotional duties at the moment and having recently visited Mumbai in the same vein, he is expected to next visit Cochin, Chennai and other south Indian cities. He is also squeezing in interviews with various media outlets and has been putting his humility and candour on perfect display. Ghost is out in theatres on October 19 along with Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Leo', 'Tiger Nageswara Rao' and 'Bhagavanth Kesari'.
In his recent chat with popular film critic/journalist Baradwaj Rangan, Shivanna spoke at length about his association with Chennai, his father Dr. Rajkumar's aura and even the success of Jailer, which has, in turn, led to his finding immense popularity in Tamil Nadu. Subsequently, one heard of Shiva Rajkumar attracting multiple offers from Tamil filmmakers and when asked about the same, he said,
"I have received a couple of offers already and the subjects, too, are very good. More importantly, the producers involved are interested in making films because, by their admission, they see the calibre in me. None of these subjects, again, are not the usual, regular kind. One of them is from Prabhu Solomon, the director who made Kumki and I have listened to his story. There's another script involving Vadivelu sir and Mr. Thennappan, Kamal Haasan sir's manager, he came up with a script for me. I really like the story and we are planning it now".
In the same conversation, the Ghost actor acknowledged the fact that prior to Jailer, although he was well-known in Tamil Nadu, the film's release resulted in his popularity soaring through the roof. It was within no time that he transitioned from Shiva Rajkumar to Shivanna for the Tamil audiences and one senses that he is currently buoyed by the love he has received.
