The first part of director MG Srinivas’ action heist thriller with Shivarajkumar in the lead, will be in theatres this Dasara
Filmmaker-actor MG Srinivas is busy with the post-production work for his next, the action heist thriller Ghost, which has Century Star Shivarajkumar in the lead. Srini, as the director is known, had earlier told us that the delay in bringing the film to audiences was because of the extensive VFX required, but when we caught up with him today, he said that he is a lot closer to ensuring that the first instalment of the two-part movie is in theatres for Dasara.
“About 80% of the VFX work has been completed and should be fully done by the end of August. This week we will begin re-recording, which is likely to take 30-45 days. Composer Arjun Janya will go into schedule break of his directorial debut 45 on August 1 or 2, and we are looking at starting the re-recording a day later,” says Srini. But considering that Ghost is being released in other languages also, specifically Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, shouldn’t he start visiting those markets with his team for promotions? “Yes, we have to start planning all of that, but first, I need to get the music of the film in order. This genre is relatively new to Arjun also, and since we are looking at creating a fresh sound for the film, it requires some work, for which we will have to brainstorm,” he adds.
Considering that the Big Daddy teaser that was released on Shivarajkumar’s birthday was a big hit among audiences, the question on everyone’s mind is as to when the trailer of Ghost can be expected. “If the film is releasing on October 19 or 20, we need to give ourselves 3-4 weeks at least between that and the trailer. Ideally, I would like to bundle it with Salaar around September 28. The official launch will be 2-3 days before Salaar and then attach it. Hopefully, that works out,” says Srini.
