Ghost’s Third OGM: Great music and glimpses of explosive action

When filmmaker MG Srinivas entrusted composer Arjun Janya with the responsibility of doing the score of his heist thriller Ghost, the latter had a brief moment of self-doubt as to whether he could pull it off, given that he’d not worked on a film like that before. But the pro that Arjun is, he not only shook it off, but also delivered an incredible score for the film, which, pretty much everyone has called out as being one of the best things about Ghost. Prior to the release of the film, Srini and Arjun had teased audiences with what’s in store with the Big Daddy teaser, and then two OGM (Original Gangster Music) tunes. The first one was a runaway hit, while the second one was a full version of the Big Daddy teaser tune.

And now comes the third OGM, which, those who’ve seen the film will know is the tune that plays during a crucial action sequence within the jail. Nearly two weeks after its release, Ghost is still going strong at the box office, owing to which, they’ve only released a lyrical video of the song, with some flashes of the action from the movie. Written and sung by Nishan Rai, the song is being hailed for its composition by Arjun. “Top notch BGM”, “Best music of 2023” were among the comments that dropped aplenty for the song.

Ghost’s OGM: Big Daddy of all masses is here; Arjun Janya’s gangster composition hits it out of the park 

Ghost, which released in theatres on October 19, follows the events that unfold when a big-time gangster takes control of a prison, and holds a former CBI officer hostage. The negotiation between officer Chengappa (Jayaram) and Dalavayi/Ghost (Shivarajkumar) forms the crux of the narrative. The film also stars Prashant Narayan in a pivotal role, while Archana Jois and Anupam Kher have cameos. While the Big Daddy teaser had been a big hit earlier, now that audiences know more about the character, Dalavayi, there’s been a demand for a full-fledged movie on him, which the makers are seriously considering as one of the projects in the proposed Srinivas Cinematic Universe.
