Actor Dibyendu Bhattacharya, who is known for delivering some memorable performances in web series like Jamtara - Sabka Number Ayega, Undekhi, Rocket Boys and Maharani, has said his new short film, titled Ghuspaithit, is dedicated to Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist Danish Siddiqui, who was killed in Afghanistan while covering clashes between Afghan troops and the Taliban. Written and directed by Mihir Lath, the film also features Amit Sadh and Pamela Bhutoria.

Speaking about the film - produced by Girish Arora - Dibyendu said, “I am glad to be a part of such a project. Ghuspaith is dedicated to fearless, dedicated journalists like Danish Siddiqui, who transcend all the boundaries to bring out the truth in front of the world.”

The actor also revealed that even though the content of the film is strong, producers face a certain amount of struggle to sell a short film commercially. “Short films are hard to sell, but Ghuspaith is a well-made and well-intended film,” he said.

The film was screened at the Boston International Film Festival 2023, and Dibyendu believes that such films should be showcased more in film festivals around the world..

Sharing details about his character in the film, Dibyendu said, “My character in the film is called Usman. He is a Bangladeshi villager, who helps smuggle cattle and sometimes even people in a hideous manner. In the film, Usman helps three migrants not knowing that they are only pretending to be a family, realising that humanity is above all.”

Dibyendu began his Bollywood career with the film Monsoon Wedding in 2001. He has also acted in films like Maqbool, Dev.D, Pari, Section 375, Looop Lapeta and Khuda Haafiz: Chapter II – Agni Pariksha, among others. His performance in Delhi Crime, Mirzapur 2 and Aar Ya Paar have also been well-received.

Next, Dibyendu will be seen in the Akshay Kumar-starrer Capsule Gill as well as in Sonu Sood’s Fateh and in Anubhav Sinha’s next directorial project.
