Ginny Wedss Sunny 2: Avinash Tiwary and Medha Shankr unite for romantic-comedy sequel

A sequel to Ginny Weds Sunny is in the works, and producer Vinod Bachchan will be returning to the romantic comedy genres. The next film, Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 features Avinash Tiwary and Medha Shankr as the new leads. In Uttarakhand, filming has begun for the sequel.

Success of the original on Netflix

While the pandemic was in full swing in 2020, the pilot film Ginny Weds Sunny debuted on Netflix. It was one of the most-watched titles on the platform shortly after its release, featuring Yami Gautam and Vikrant Massey. Thanks to its devoted audience, the makers decided to expand the show's universe with more light-hearted romance and family turmoil.

There are new characters and a different plot in the sequel compared to the first. Ginny Wedss Sunny 2 isn't a sequel but rather a new take on the same themes of love, comedy, and family mayhem as the original film, despite sharing the title.

First look shared from set

The stars, Avinash Tiwary and Medha Shankr, who are working together for the first time, started filming by posting Instagram photos of clapboards from the set. Vinod Bachchan (Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana) produces the film through his Soundrya Production company, and Prasshant Jha writes and directs it.

Vinod Bachchan stated when asked about the project that they are thrilled to bring a new chapter to the Ginny Weds Sunny universe. In response to the positive reception of the pilot, they set out to develop new stories and characters; in Avinash and Medha, they discovered an exciting and original duo. The makers believe that the sequel will provide an even greater amount of emotion, humour, and bonding.
