Directed by Adam Wingard, this film is the fourth installation in the Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse film series. The MonsterVerse franchise currently includes four movies: Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of Monsters and now Godzilla vs. Kong. The plot of the most recent addition to this list, Godzilla vs. Kong follows Kong who is ready to battle Godzilla as humans lure the mighty ape into the universe of Hollow Earth to retrieve a power source that will be used as a weapon to stop Godzilla’s mysterious rampages.
Reports have stated that director Wingard, following the success of Godzilla vs. Kong, is being roped in again by Legendary Pictures for a new MonsterVerse movie. This might be a sequel of a remake and though there have been no confirmations yet, many believe that this project could be a Son of Kong remake.
Fans of the MonsterVerse were delighted at the film which features the epic battle of the two monsters. Godzilla vs. Kong went on to be the third highest grossing film of 2021 and broke the pandemic record for an opening weekend box office debut, earning over $400 million globally.
