Gold release date: When and where to watch Prithviraj, Nayanthara’s entertainer

Director Alphonse Puthren’s Gold, which has Prithviraj Sukumaran and Nayanthara in the lead, has been one of the most awaited Malayalam films since its announcement last year. Now that the makers have finally confirmed its release date, fans have already marked their calendars to catch the Premam filmmaker’s first film in over seven years.

The movie, which is touted to be a dark comedy, only had a teaser release and that too almost five months ago. But such has been the hype of a movie helmed by Alphonse, who recently stated in a social media post that a “good movie promotes itself”.

Gold, which is co-produced by Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames, has a stellar cast apart from its lead stars Prithviraj and Nayanthara, who essay the characters of ‘Danger’ Joshy and Sumangali Unnikrishnan, respectively. Roshan Mathew, Jaffer Idukki, Shammi Thilakan, Ajmal Ameer, Lalu Alex, Deepti Sati, Saiju Kurup, Chemban Vinod Jose, Shanthi Krishna, Jagadeesh, Prem Kumar and Vinay Forrt are also part of the cast of the movie.

The producers of the movie have had a successful run in 2022, backing superhits such as Jana Gana Mana and Kaduva, respectively. They will be hoping to continue that when Gold first hits theatres on December 1. The movie was recently issued a clean ‘U’ rating by the CBFC and will have simultaneous release all over the world on Thursday.

The movie’s OTT rights and satellite rights were sold well in advance with Amazon Prime Video being its streaming partner and Surya TV set to broadcast the film early next year. Gold is expected to begin streaming on Prime by January first week.

The film reportedly revolves around a mobile shop owner Joshi, who plans to purchase a new car and the series of events that unfold. This is the first time Prithviraj is acting with Nayanthara in a full-length feature. The duo though had earlier worked together in a song sequence in the multi-starrer Twenty-20.
