Gold teaser: Prithviraj Sukumaran, Nayanthara promise a chaotic entertainer

Gold features filmmaker Alphonse Puthren’s return to the director’s chair after a gap of almost seven years. So naturally, the hype around the film is palpable to say the least. As promised, the makers have unveiled the long awaited teaser of the film, and ‘tease’ is exactly what it does.

The teaser, just over two and a half minutes long, can be viewed on Magic Frames’ Youtube channel. Although the teaser gives away very little as to what story the film will follow, it signals at a chaotic entertainer in every way. The teaser opens with a group of young men trying to push their stalled truck. Enter Prithviraj Sukumaran as Joshi S, making slow strides towards them with a glare on his face. As he reaches them, he gives them an intense look before launching a kick towards them. Nayanthara also makes a short delightful appearance in the teaser, where she is seen munching on popcorn. Her character is revealed to be Sumangali Unnikrishnan.

The upcoming film will mark Puthren’s third directorial venture, after Neram (2013) and Premam (2015).

Talking about the upcoming film, Prithviraj had told Pinkvilla that it would be a ‘breezy entertainer’, and that he did not often get a chance to be a part of a film like this. The actor had also revealed that the film would feature an ensemble cast.

In addition to Prithviraj and Nayanthara, the film also features Faisal Muhammed, Justin John and M A Shiyas, who also make an appearance in the teaser. Ajmal Amir also essays a pivotal role in Gold.

Gold will be released in theatres on March 25, 2022.
