The Golden Globe Awards 2023 kicked off with a bang, celebrating the best in film and television of the past year. Television seems to be in its Golden Era right now, with a number of fine TV shows hitting the silver screen, that provide viewers with an array of content. These shows are elevated by the powerhouse performances of its stars, which were celebrated this year at the Golden Globes. This year, Zendaya, Kevin Costner and more took home the gold for their impeccable performances in television shows.
Zendaya is no stranger to accolades, having raked in a number of awards and nominations for her role in Euphoria. The actress received her first Golden Globe nomination, for Best Actress in a Television Series – Drama, and won. The actress, who was not present at the ceremony, beat out names such as Emma D’Arcy (House of the Dragon), Laura Linney(Ozark), Imelda Staunton (The Crown) and Hilary Swank(Alaska Daily).
Veteran Hollywood actor Kevin Costner added another accolade to his name this year when he won the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series -- Drama for Yellowstone. Jeremy Allen White won the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for his role in The Bear.
Amanda Seyfried won the Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television award for her role in The Dropout. The actress did not attend the ceremony.
Jennifer Coolidge won hearts, and now a Golden Globe, for her impeccable performance in The White Lotus: Sicily. The actress won the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television.
Julia Garner saw twin nominations this year, being nominated for her roles in both Ozark and Inventing Anna. For Ozark, she took home the gold for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical-Comedy or Drama Television Series.
This year’s ceremony also witnessed a lot of actors taking home the trophy for the first ever time. Quinta Brunson and Tyler James Williams won their first Golden Globes this year. Brunson won the award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for her role in Abbott Elementary, while Williams won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical-Comedy or Drama Television Series award for the same show.
Evan Peters, who is a well known name for horror TV fans, also took home his first Golden Globe for Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, in the Best actor in a limited series or TV movie category.
Paul Walter Hauser saw his first Golden Globe nomination and win this year in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television category, for his role in Black Bird.
