Squid Game season 2 started with a bang, courtesy Gong Yoo, who plays the salesman in the series. His character is the one that left a major impact in the second season and when he went out with a bang, that led to disappointment among all the viewers. But what if we tell you that there's a slight chance that the salesman is not yet dead? Yep, there was a big hint that you missed in Squid Game 2, which might mean that the salesman is actually alive. So will Gong Yoo make a comeback in season 3? Here's what we feel...
Yes, we know that the salesman, played by Gong Yoo, took a headshot in Squid Game 2, but listen up. There is a moment in the series where Gong Yoo opens his eyes. Now this could be a genuine acting mistake, but what if it was all an act and the salesman is not actually dead?
In Squid Game season 2 episode 2, at 3.10 minutes, there's a brief moment where Gong Yoo opens his eyes. We're not vouching that he is alive for sure, but his comeback in season 3 is sure to change the game.
Even after the salesman died, people were getting recruited into the game. Maybe there are other salesmen out there hired by the company to take over his role, but maybe he actually is still alive and has gone undercover for the most part.
Another hint that he might be alive comes from the corrupt captain. It's almost as if this captain has an idea of Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae)'s plan and thus, he has been working for the company rather than actually helping Wi Ha-joon's Hwan Jun-ho reach the island where the games are taking place. How else would the company know to remove Gi-hun's GPS from the particular tooth?
While there are major hints about BTS' Kim Tae-hyung aka V joining Squid Game 3 as a guard, we already know that there's a new doll. He is the current doll Young-hee's boyfriend Chul-su, who was introduced to the show in the season 3 teaser. While there are many theories around the kind of games hinted at, particularly Jack & Jill and London Bridge, and with his addition, Gong Yoo making a comeback could be one of the bigger plot twists in the coming season. Some other twists, of course, include the Frontman and VIP members infiltrating the game. Lee Byun-hyun's character is back to being the Frontman, while it appears that David Lee's Park Min-su might be among the VIP members in the game.
