Much of what the trailer of Good Bad Ugly had promised was delivered in the film, which hit theatres on Thursday. The Ajith Kumar-starrer directed by filmmaker Adhik Ravichandran, is a showreel of sorts of the actor’s career, which calls in for references and easter eggs at almost every second in the film. If it is not for Ajith, then Adhik makes sure that he inserts the pop-culture references to other star references, including that of Vijay, who is often pitted against Ajith as a rival.

Good Bad Ugly: Did you spot all the references?

The trailer of Good Bad Ugly had done the heavy lifting to set the stage for the film. It set out to be an unabashed fan service by Adhik to Ajith, and the film is just about that. But once you see the film, it is just more of the filmmaker making sure he leaves no stone unturned to keep in tandem with every meme reference and callbacks.

As shown in the trailer, Simran makes a cameo appearance as Priya, who paired up with Ajith in Vaalee, and there is a callback to Ajith's evil twin in the film, while conversing with GBU's antagonist played by Arjun Das. If that is not enough, Sultana song starring Simran gets played, and there is a sweet Jodi reunion of Trisha's Ramya and Simran, with the former giving her 'Lesa Lesa' nod to Simran to adore AK. By the way, if you were wondering what Ajith's name is in GBU, it is AK, aka Red Dragon. The former gangster had dissolved his gangs for the sake of his newborn son, drawing much parallel between the star who disbanded his fan clubs a long time back. We are also told how AK was the one who killed Ramya's father by pushing him out of the car, much like in Mankatha?

If that is not enough, we are told about AK's past as a notorious gangster when he joined a Mumbai don, only to end up saving the brother of a Korean don. No brownie points if you guess that it is Dong Lee who appears in an animated sequence. That is not all of it. AK then goes on to help a certain New York assassin with long hair, who may go by the name John Wick, before pairing up with The Professor from the Money Heist series. While these international characters appear in animated forms, Adhik is quick to come back to his roots, to tell you the old days of AK as Dheena, and Billa.

There is a Vizhiyil Un Vizhiyil (from Kireedam) romance between Ajith and Trisha. The latter gets the taste of her own dialogue when Tyson (Sunil), AK’s right hand, says he wants to eat Kara Pori (remember Ghilli?), when the trio are fleeing from Bombay, chased by gangs. That’s not yet even half of the film, when Ajith cuts to intermission by saying the famous Vijay dialogue from Thuppakki ‘I’m waiting’.

And there is more…in Good Bad Ugly

Adhik, who made clever use of Panju Mittai song in Mark Antony, brings yet another yesteryear classic 'Otha Rubaai Tharen’, inserts ‘irunga bhai’ and ‘card mela 16 number…’ meme moments. There are also callbacks to several dialogues from Ajith’s previous films, from Dheena to Billa, and Adhik even hints about AK 64 through a car number plate.
