Good Luck Jerry made its way onto OTT on Friday. The film saw Janhvi Kapoor take on the role of the titular protagonist, a spunky young woman who is forced to be a part of the drug trade in order to afford treatment for her ailing mother. It seems that the actress’ portrayal of the plucky Jerry was a hit with audiences. After the film’s release today, netizens flocked to Twitter to voice their opinions about the film, and many seemed to agree that Janhvi put up a memorable performance in the film.

The actress was praised for her portrayal in the film, with some even calling it one of the best performances of her career. Calling the film a ‘game changer’ and Janhvi’s acting ‘amazing’, one user praised the film’s brilliant story and songs. Another appreciated Janhvi for her screen presence and called the film ‘fully balanced’. One user wrote ‘Can we talk about the rise of #JanhviKapoor as actor she has best lineup among her contemporaries’, and predicted that the actress would ‘rule’ the film industry just like her late mother Sridevi did.

Many users agreed that Good Luck Jerry was definitely entertaining and some went so far as to call it a ‘must watch’. Calling it a ‘nice and funny’ movie, one user singled out Janhvi and Deepak Dobriyal’s performances. One user called it an ‘out and out entertainer’ and said it was a film Indian families ought to watch together.

Some people thought that the film should have gone for a theatrical release instead of opting for OTT.

But not all netizens were impressed by the film it seems. Appreciating Janhvi’s performance, one user criticised the film for its pace.

Good Luck Jerry is the Hindi remake of Nayanthara’s Tamil Film, Kolamaavu Kokila (2018). The former, directed by Sidharth Sengupta, is available for streaming on Disney+Hotstar.
