As the year draws to a close, filmmaker Karan Johar took to social media to pen an extremely heartfelt note of gratitude for Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh

If there is one person who is always busy doing something or another in the entertainment arena, then it has to be Karan Johar. Be it hosting a show or judging a reality show, showing off his by-now-famous pout as he sells the brands who ‘invest’ in him or what he does best—making films. Karan Johar is omnipresent, always ‘being there, doing that’. With the year coming to an end within a few days, an emotional Karan Johar took to social media and penned a heartfelt post of gratitude for Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh, the lead stars of his film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
Karan Johar makes an honest confession
In a long post, Karan started off with a ‘confession’ of sorts when he wrote, “Before the years wraps I felt like sharing this with all of you… I hadn’t directed Alia since 2012 and the day she walked onto set In her @manishmalhotra05 plus @mickeycontractor plus #flavian look I knew we had the Rani I had always envisaged …. What followed was an actor I wasn’t prepared for…. And I can take zero credit … will always be grateful to Imtiaz ali for taking her on a highway of life and moulding her into the actor she finally became …. SOTY is technically her launch but her true launch as an artist will always be highway…”

Karan calls Alia Bhatt a pride and pleasure
He continued stating that Alia was a pleasure on a film set and that she constantly questioned Rani and would try her best to make her strong, yet identifiable and likeable. Karan Johar also made it very clear that he would not like to take any credit for Alia’s evolution as an artist, aka Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani's Rani Chatterjee.

Karan Johar then poured his heart out about Ranveer Singh, aka Rocky Randhawa in the same film. Calling him an ‘irreplaceable force of nature’, Karan Johar mentioned that Ranveer always comes prepared, but never comes in your way. He also spoke about how Ranveer had not revealed the kind of preparations he was doing to get into the skin of his character Rocky Randhawa, even though he had worked on his dialect like an obsessed artist, hung out in West Delhi and also had met the West Delhi gram boys!
Ranveer Singh’s dedication blows Karan Johar away
Karan continued by saying that amid all this, he stood as a bystander, a filmmaker in awe and someone who was blown away by his process. He also made it a point to mention that while the world sees Ranveer in designer clothes on magazine covers, he sees a hungry actor only seeking love and validation from his audiences.
Karan Johar calls Alia and Ranveer 'blessed artists'
Towards the end of the emotional note, Karan Johar wrote, “ROCKY RANDHWA and RANVEER were irreplaceable! No one could have done what he did! Absolutely No one and I feel grateful for him and Alia ! The three of us also built a friendship for the ages as a trio! This is not just an appreciation post as a filmmaker but a post of gratitude to the universe that bought these blessed artists to play my leads! Karan Johar this side … signing off!”
Ranveer Singh responds to Karan’s post
Ranveer Singh, aka a bundle of energy, took to the comments section of Karan Johar’s post and replied, “Sooooo cyuuuuuuuud yaaaar”.
