Netflix is gearing up for the Korean apocalyptic thriller series Goodbye Earth. If you liked sci-fi thriller 3 Body Problem, then this K-drama will also serve as an enthralling series due to its “end of the world scenario,” along with a stellar ensemble cast. Ahead of its release on the streaming platform this week, take a look at the OTT release, plot, cast, and other key details.

Goodbye Earth OTT release

Netflix’s latest K-drama, Goodbye Earth, will premiere on April 26 (Friday) and is expected to open with a higher viewership because of the weekend. The eye-grabbing premise revolves around the inevitable disaster and the citizens of Korea battling with their inner conflict. The series is based on Kotaro Isaka’s Japanese novel ‘The Fool at the End of the World.’

Goodbye Earth is directed by Kim Jin-min of Marriage Contract and My Name fame. The apocalyptic thriller series is inspired by the Japanese bestselling novel ‘The Fool at the End of the World’ by Kotaro Isaka. The makers unveiled a riveting trailer clip earlier in April and stirred the countdown with mass hysteria and panic awaiting the celestial tragedy.

The trailer showcases citizens grappling with the new reality of a disastrous end. It is also highlighted that the Korean peninsula will bear the most impact from the celestial accident in the next 200 days.

Goodbye Earth plot and cast

The plot traces the final countdown of 200 days ahead of the deadly collision between planet Earth and Asteroid Dina. It witnesses the Korean citizens fighting against the odds as they cling to the dangling thread of hope and life. Escaped prisoners, crime lords, and protestors clash head-to-head as the system loses its grip over the townspeople.

The entertainment-packed series boasts a stellar ensemble cast with the formidable likes of Ahn Eun-jin, Yoo Ah-in, Jeon Sung-woo, and Kim Yoon-hye. While Ahn Eun-jin plays Jin Se-kyung, a volunteer and a determined teacher, Yoo Ah-in plays Yoon Sang-eun, a biotechnology researcher and Se-kyung's love interest. Other characters include:  Woo Seong-jae, an assistant priest (played by Jeon Sung-woo), and commander Kang In-ah (played by Kim Yoon-hye).
