Gopichand joins hands with Ghazi-fame Sankalp Reddy for a period drama, first look out

Gopichand is one of the most talented actors in Telugu cinema, but he has been facing back-to-back flops in his career. There is a lot of pressure on him to deliver, and he has now signed a new film with Sankalp Reddy of Ghazi fame. The film was officially announced on June 12, 2025, on the occasion of Gopichand's birthday. 

Gopichand signs a new period drama

The makers also released a short video showcasing Gopichand in a snowy mountain backdrop, emerging from a hut and endearingly embracing his horse. The visuals, setting, and overall tone strongly suggest that Gopichand33 is a period drama set in the 7th century.

Srinivas Chitturi is producing the film under the Shine Screens banner, reportedly investing a hefty budget. A small schedule has already been wrapped up. Manikandan, known for his work on HIT, HIT 2, and HIT 3, is handling the cinematography. 

A massive set has also been erected in a private studio in Hyderabad, where a major portion of the shoot will take place. Gopichand's look from the film has been unveiled, and the Viswam star appears top-notch in his warrior avatar. He was last seen in Viswam, directed by Srinu Vaitla.  

Though the film was panned by critics, it ended as a safe bet for the makers. However, this new film is being touted as the biggest project of Gopichand's career, and he has pinned high hopes on it.

The female lead and the rest of the cast will be announced soon. Sankalp Reddy is known for making films ahead of their time, and with Gopichand33, he has once again dreamt big.
