When the team of the upcoming Kannada film Green released a first look poster a few weeks ago, which featured what looked like an enormous egg in a forest, the assumption was that it could likely be a monster film of sorts. But then they decided to clear the air and explain that it is not about a physical monster, but one set deep in the psyche of a person.
Directed by Raaj Vijay, Green, according to the official synopsis, is a psychological thriller that takes viewers deep into the human psyche, and follows a person struggling with a monstrous force within. How this person then sets out to escape the demon within him that has been controlling his entire life is what the film is all about. As this monster slowly takes control, it changes the protagonist’s perspective and renders him devoid of the ability to make decisions. Caught in a web of fear and confusion, he tries to find who he really is.
According to the makers, the objective of Green is to reinforce the importance of seeking help before the demon within one completely swallows up one's whole existence. As the filmmaker takes a deep dive into the darkest corners of the human mind, the film also explores the courage it takes to overcome it and find light at the end of the tunnel.
The film is now set for a theatrical outing, after a lengthy festival run, during which it won several accolades. The key cast includes Gopalkrishna Deshpande (Toby ), Balaji Manohar, RJ Vikki, Viswanath Mandalika, Shiv Manju, Dimpy Fadhya, N Ramachandra, Murudaiah CR, among others, many of who are popular names in Kannada theatre circles. K Madhusudan has served as DOP, Arul Erlango Siddharth as editor and Sak as composer, for the film produced by BN Swamy.
