Gerard Butler's 2020 disaster movie Greenland is making its way to Lionsgate Play this April. The streamer shared the Hindi trailer along with a streaming release date.

The clip shows a happy family, John Garrity (Gerard Butler) and his son Nathan bonding when one day the threat of a comet that can potentially destroy mankind suddenly emerges. His neighbours and friends reel with anxiety as they watch the news informing them of the comet and how it's already destroyed some parts of the country.

"Dad, aasman mei aag lagi hai (Dad, the sky is on fire)," exclaims Nathan as John tries to remove him from the porch of their house. There's more to this calamity, it's not over yet. A friend tells John that everyone is ill-informed and there are more bits and pieces of the comet rapidly coming towards Earth. The trailer then shows how John has to make sure that he, Nathan and his estranged wife Allison (Morena Baccarin) make it out alive from this catastrophe.

Ric Roman Waugh has directed Greenland from a script by writer Chris Sparling. Roger Dale Ford and Scott Glenn also star. Basil Iwanyk, Sébastien Raybaud, Butler, and Alan Siegel are the producers.

According to Variety, Greenland performed surprisingly well at the box office upon its release despite being released right in the middle of the pandemic when theatres across the world were shut down or open to only limited capacity. The movie was released in 26 countries including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Russia.

In June last year, a sequel was announced with Butler and Baccarin reprising their roles and the writer-director team returning. The story will continue from where it left last, with the Garrity family seeking refuge in a bunker in Greenland. In the upcoming movie, they'll have to leave the bunker on another perilous trip to find a new home.

Meanwhile, you can watch the original movie on Lionsgate Play on April 15 in Hindi, Tamil and English. Watch the trailer here —
