Ground Zero is Excel Entertainment's latest patriotic and sacrifice-filled film, based on a true incident that won the Border Security Force's greatest operation in the last half-century award in 2015. The trailer has finally emerged, and it's as much a poster as the posters and teasers that had been building anticipation.

The true story of Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey, the real-life BSF Commandant, is told in Ground Zero against the explosive backdrop of Kashmir. A startling new avatar—raw, restrained, and subtly dominating—is worn by Emraan Hashmi as he assumes the job. The change in the actor is captivating, as he adopts a resolute expression while harbouring a raging emotional storm. "Ab Prahaar Hoga" (Now there will be a strike), a prominent line in the trailer, encapsulates the intense emotions of a soldier on the verge of collapse.

An emotionally grounded, high-tension, action-packed slow-burn thriller is how the trailer develops. It not only centres on battlegrounds, but it also delves into the internal struggle that soldiers endure. John Stewart Eduri's eerie score serves to heighten the sense of impending doom, while the antagonist's nameless, faceless voice brings an extra shiver to the story.

As the soldier's wife, Sai Tamhankar brings realism and grace to the story with a controlled yet emotionally rich performance. The ensemble cast is completed by Rahul Vohra, Lalit Prabhakar, Zoya Hussain, Mukesh Tiwari, Deepak Parmesh, and Rockey Raina.

Production and creative team

With the support of Talisman Films, Kassim Jagmagia, Vishal Ramchandani, Sundeep C. Sidhwani, Arhan Bagati, Abhishek Kumar, and Nishikant Roy, Ground Zero was produced by Excel Entertainment's Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the direction of Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar.

Priyadarshee Srivastava and Sanchit Gupta penned the screenplay and wrote the dialogue. Sunny Inder, Kumaar, Vayu, and Rashmi Virag wrote the lyrics, while Rohan Rohan and Tanishk Bagchi composed the music. Irshad Kamil contributed as a guest lyricist.

Themes of war

Ground Zero is the next intense chapter in Excel's narrative journey, following in the footsteps of such powerful films like Lakshya. Both the physical and psychological harms inflicted by war will be shown in the film.

A lot of people are getting really excited because of the trailer. Ground Zero will hit theatres on April 25, 2025.
