Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 filming has finally begun. Director and writer James Gunn announced on his social media pages that the first day of filming for Marvel Studios' forthcoming film began today. The filmmaker shared a photo of himself posing with the whole team in a blurry and memorable one. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, and Sean Gunn are returning cast members for the latest Galaxy film.
While captioning the post, Gunn got emotional and wrote, "It’s been a strange, long, and at times challenging journey to get here, but the obstacles along the way have only made this moment more blissful. Back on set with my Guardians family for the first day of shooting # GotGVol3."
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 also features Will Poulter making his MCU debut as Adam Warlock.
Earlier, while announcing his return as the director for the third instalment, Gunn had said that his affection for Rocket, Groot, Gamora, Star-Lord, Yondu, Mantis, Drax, and Nebula, as well as some of the other upcoming heroes, is greater than one can possibly imagine.
He believes they have more adventures and lessons to learn about themselves and the wonderful and sometimes terrifying universe they all share ahead of them.
Gunn also said that he would not have said "yes" until he knew exactly where they were going and what they were going to do. The filmmaker added that he is not the type of man who will just do anything if he doesn't have a vision for it.
The film is based on the comic Guardians of the Galaxy by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. It's set to hit the big screens on May 5, 2023.
