Zoya Akhtar had delivered one of the best films of her career in 2019 with Gully Boy. The heartfelt tale of a young man fighting against all odds to follow his passion to become a rapper, seemed to strike a chord with both critics and audiences alike. As the critically acclaimed film turns four years old this year, Zoya took to her official social media to celebrate.

The film saw Ranveer Singh as the titular protagonist, with Alia Bhatt, Kalki Koechlin, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and Vijay Varma, among others, in supporting roles. Zoya, who directed the film, posted a picture of her, Ranveer, Siddhant, and Vijay posing together. In the caption of the picture, Zoya spoke of how the picture was missing Safeena and Skye, referring to the characters essayed by Alia and Kalki respectively.

Zoya’s upcoming directorial is in the form of The Archies, inspired by the popular American comic book franchise of the same name. The Netflix film will mark the onscreen debut of Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan, Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda, and Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s daughter Khushi Kapoor, who is also the sister of Jahnvi Kapoor. Zoya has also penned the script for Arjun Varain Singh’s upcoming directorial Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, along with Reema and Yash Sahai. The film stars Ananya Panday, Adarsh Gourav and Siddhant Chaturvedi in lead roles.
