With his upcoming Netflix series Guns and Gulaabs, Gulshan Devaiah, a versatile actor who has dazzled audiences with roles in movies like Shaitan, Hunterrr, Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota, and shows like Dahaad is prepared to explore the digital world once again. The comedy-thriller, which is set in the 1990s and takes place in the imaginary village of Gulaabgunj, stars the actor as Bala, a gangster. In addition to Rajkummar Rao, Dulquer Salmaan, Adarsh Gourav, Shreya Dhanwanthary, and others, the series is directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK.

The actor recently shared many information about working with Raj & DK, his love for Govinda, his appreciation for Shah Rukh Khan, and much more with OTTplay during an exclusive interview about the show.

When asked if he got the creative liberty while shooting Guns & Gulaabs, Gulshan said: "They create a highly collaborative environment. When I was offered this role, I used to exchange text messages with Raj sir almost daily, discussing ideas about how the knife should look, how the nails should be designed. So, a lot of it was already developed with him, but at a certain point, I remember Raj sir saying that it seems like I'm taking on more than necessary. They foster an atmosphere for creative work. Some ideas are his, some belong to everyone, so nothing is set in stone as long as what you're doing is appropriate and beneficial for the show. They are open to all the ideas you bring forward."

Furthermore, when asked about the quintessential star that, in his opinion, encapsulated the essence of the 90s era, Gulshan responded promptly with his preference for Govinda. According to him, Govinda stands as his favorite emblem of the 90s. "When I think of 90s, I think that phase from 94 to 98 is of Govinda. It was only possible in the 90s because the colours, I mean roles bhi rangeen the, gaane bhi rangeen the aur kapde bhi rangeen the."

Continuing the discussion, Gulshan also highlighted Shah Rukh Khan's dominance during the 90s. He expressed, "No one can work like Shah Rukh Khan. His work and his stardom means something to us (actors). People who want to be Shah Rukh Khan, think twice, you wont last for two hours, forget two days."

Meanwhile, in the comedy-thriller Guns and Gulaabs, four misfits become caught in Gulaabgunj's web of crime, politics, romance, and craziness. Suman Kumar, Raj Nidimoru, and Krishna DK are the writers of the series. On August 18, the Netflix original series will begin streaming.
