Aditya Roy Kapur is back to thrill audiences yet again with his upcoming crime thriller, Gumraah, which has gotten fans excited to say the least. Not only will the film mark Aditya’s first onscreen collaboration with Mrunal Thakur, who plays the other lead in the film, Gumraah will also see Aditya essay a dual role for the first time in his career. The makers recently unveiled the teaser of the film, which promises a roller coaster ride of thrills.
The teaser starts off with an intense monologue from one of the characters that Aditya plays, where he is heard talking to someone on the phone about how badly he had been beaten up by their goons. Aditya then goes on to promise that he will hit back, but only once, and the pain of his hit will haunt the person for the rest of their lives.
As the trailer progresses, viewers get to see a glimpse of the second character that Aditya plays, and how a gruesome murder unends his life. On the murder case is a gutsy police officer, who will stop at nothing to bring the culprit behind bars.
Check out the teaser of Gumraah below:
The upcoming film is the Hindi remake of the 2019 Tamil film Thadam, directed by Magizh Thirumeni, which starred Arun Vijay, Vidya Pradeep , Tanya Hope, and Smruthi Venkat.
Earlier, Aditya had spoken of how the original film, which he called riveting, had left a lasting impression on him. “As an actor, getting a chance to do a double role is double the preparation and double the challenge, and I’m certainly up for it!”, he added.
The film will see Mrunal don the khaki for the first time in her career, which she said she had always wanted to do. Ronit Roy also stars in the film, directed by debutant Vardhan Ketkar.
Gumraah will hit the silver screens on April 7, 2023.
