Guntur Kaaram touches the Rs 100 crore share worldwide ,hence becoming Mahesh Babu's fifth back-to-back Rs 100 crore film of his career.
Guntur Kaaram is Mahesh Babu's latest release which was out on January 12, 2024, as Sankranthi 2024 special. The action drama opened to mixed reviews all over but the collections have been strong from day one. But sadly, ever since the festival holidays got over on Wednesday the January 17, the film's occupancy has gone down big time.
In most of the areas in Telangana, Guntur Kaaram is not even seeing 50% occupancy which is surprising. But the film is quite strong in the state of Andhra Pradesh where Mahesh Babu has a mass fan following. To date, Guntur Kaaram has made Rs 102 crore share worldwide which is huge with such a mixed word of mouth.
The biggest takeaway from this is that Guntur Kaaram is Mahesh Babu's fifth back-to-back 100-crore film of his career. He has been on a roll in the last few years as all the films in the last three years have been massive hits at the box office.
Having said this, Guntur Kaaram is a long way to being in the safe zone. The pre-release business of Guntur Kaaram was locked at Rs 125 crore and the Trivikram mass drama needs more Rs 25 crore to be in a safe zone. While the film has broken even in many areas, it will end up as a loss venture in many areas of its release.
In the US, Guntur Kaaram is likely to end up as a loss venture. It is stuck at 2.5 million dollars. The occupancy has fallen big time whereas the other Sankranthi 2024 release, HanuMan is still going strong at the box office in various states in the US.
Mahesh Babu's dances are being loved by many and the makers are promoting the film through various promos of the hit Kurchi Madatapetti song which features Mahesh and Sreeleela. The chemistry between the lead pair is on fire in this mass number.
Thaman composed the music for this film which was produced by Haarika and Haasine Creations. They have pumped big money into the film which is the third collaboration of Mahesh Babu and Trivikram after Khaleja and Athadu.
Mahesh Babu is over the moon and says Guntur Kaaram is one of his favorite films to date and his performance is the best to date. Having said all this, there is a long way to go before Mahesh and the team end up in a safe zone. Netflix has grabbed the OTT rights to the film, which will be out in the last week of February for its digital screening.
