The countdown to the release of Daali Dhananjaya’s first film for the year, Gurudev Hoysala, begins now. The film, which is the actor’s milestone 25th, has a lot riding on it, as the actor has had a lacklustre 2022, with none of his films after 2021’s Badava Rascal, doing much at the box office. This is also the film with which Dhananjaya has said he begins his tryst with action entertainers for family audiences. Speaking to the media earlier, Dhananjaya had said that he is often told by fans to only do serious and hardcore commercial films. He added that he’s understood that he needs to meet fan expectations, which also means that there will not be much scope for experimentation. His new resolution, he said, is that going forward he will only do massy action entertainers meant for family audiences.

Directed by N Vijay, who had made Geetha earlier, Gurudev Hoysala is Dhananjaya’s second collaboration with KRG Studios, after 2021’s Rathnan Prapancha. After this, he will do another film with the banner, Uttarakaanda, for which he will reunite with Rathnan Prapancha director Rohit Padaki.

The film, which pairs Dhananjaya with his Popcorn Monkey Tiger and Badava Rascal co-star Amrutha Iyengar yet again, has Gultoo fame Naveen Shankar has the main antagonist. The film is set in Belagavi, and as per the latest, the action entertainer is all of 2 hours and 11 minutes long. Set to release in theatres on March 30, Gurudev Hoysala may face some competition from Natural Star Nani’s Dasara, as well as Ajay Devgn’s Khaidi remake, Bhola, both of which will also hit screens on the same day. The team of Dhananjaya’s film today announced that advance booking will open tomorrow, March 26.

Gurudev Hoysala has already fixed its streaming partner and in continuance with KRG Studios’ ongoing relationship with Amazon Prime Video, the platform will make the film available after its theatrical run.
