Gurudev Hoysala OTT: Daali Dhananjaya & co. to stick to the 45-day norm for the Amazon Prime release?

Gurudev Hoysala brought together Daali Dhananjaya and KRG Studios for the second time following their fruitful maiden collaboration in the form of Rathnan Prapancha. The latter film came as a straight OTT release in 2021 but the makers chose to take the theatrical route with the former, deeming it a bona fide theatrical experience. And much to everyone's delight, Gurudev Hoysala, indeed, charmed everybody who caught it on the big screen with the film receiving encouraging critical acclaim during its theatrical run.

Although the audience turnout in cinema halls wasn't as good as expected, many lauded the efforts of the team for putting together a credible film that boasts a taut narrative and some solid central performances from the cast. Another reason for the relatively low footfalls could be the fact that the film clashed with Dasara (starring Nani and Keerthy Suresh) at the box office on March 30.

Regardless, the OTT release of Gurudev Hoysala has been a much-discussed topic on the internet over the past couple of weeks. Fans of Dhananjaya, especially, have been waiting for the film to drop on the chosen platform (Amazon Prime Video) but one still awaits an official word from the makers on the exact date of release. Previously, reports claimed that the film would debut on OTT on April 27 but with the team making no such suggestions so far, it would seem that the wait is about to get a bit longer. 

However, some of the latest reports are now suggesting that Gurudev Hoysala is likely to arrive on Amazon Prime Video on May 12. While there is no basis for this suggestion either, one can expect the makers to adhere to the 45-day norm which puts the second or the third week of May in context.

Written and directed by Vijay N., Gurudev Hoysala is a slick cop action-thriller which also stars Naveen Shankar, Amrutha Iyengar, Avinash B.S., Achyuth Kumar, Prathap Narayan and others. Ajaneesh B. Loknath is credited as the film's music composer.
