On December 25, the film will be released in theatres alongside Unni Mukundan's love drama Mindiyum Paranjum and Nivin Pauly's eagerly awaited horror comedy Sarvam Maya.

In the three-minute clip, Shane Nigam plays a young Muslim rapper, while Sakshi appears to be his Christian love interest. Despite the opposition of their communities, they fall in love. Glimpses of Shane's character being charged with love jihad and facing various legal challenges to prevent him from seeing his lover are soon shown in the trailer.

Sakshi Vaidya is the main character in Haal, with supporting roles played by Nishanth Sagar, Joy Mathew, Johny Anthony, and Madhupal. The script was written by Nishad Koya. Due to recent censorship concerns, the movie's theatrical premiere was repeatedly delayed. The makers were instructed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to avoid using terms like "rakhi," "beef biryani," "dwajapranamam," and the use of burqas to conceal one's identity in Haal. However, Veeraa, the director of Haal, asked the Kerala High Court to step in. The film reportedly presents a negative image of Kerala state authorities and the police, according to the Censor Board. The arguments against the film were recently dismissed by the Kerala High Court.
