It has been confirmed that the movie will premiere on the big screen during Christmas 2025, which will conflict with Sarvam Maya, starring Nivin Pauly. Mindiyum Paranjum, featuring Unni Mukundan and Aparna Balamurali, would also be released on the same day. Vrusshabha, a Pan-Indian film with Malayalam superstar Mohanlal, is also scheduled for Christmas release following several delays. There won't be any other much awaited Malayalam films released in theatres at the same time.
Due to recent censorship concerns, the movie's theatrical premiere was repeatedly delayed. The makers were instructed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to avoid using terms like "rakhi," "beef biryani," "dwajapranamam," and the use of burqas to conceal one's identity in Haal. However, Veeraa, the director of Haal, has asked the Kerala High Court to step in. The film reportedly presents a negative image of Kerala state authorities and the police, according to the Censor Board. The arguments against the film were recently dismissed by the Kerala High Court.

Two young lovers from different socioeconomic backgrounds deal with discrimination and familial expectations. The main focus of the movie is how their forbidden relationship subverts ingrained customs. The death of Malayalam actor Sreenivasan caused the trailer's December 20 release to be postponed. The trailer is likely to be out in the coming week ahead of its theatrical release.
In Haal, Sakshi Vaidya plays the protagonist role, while Nishanth Sagar, Joy Mathew, Johny Anthony, and Madhupal portray supporting parts. Nishad Koya wrote the script. Famous Pakistani vocalist Atif Aslam will make his Malayalam debut with Haal.
