Hai Jawani toh Ishq Hona Hai: Varun Dhawan and David Dhawan's movie officially announced | Film to release in 2026

Varun Dhawan was last seen in Baby John and is currently gearing up for Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari and Border 2. The actor also has a romantic comedy-drama, titled Hai Jawani toh Ishq Hona Hai, directed by his dad, David Dhawan. On May 23, the makers officially announced the film, Hai Jawani toh Ishq Hona Hai and revealed the release date.

On May 23, Tips Films took to their Instagram account and revealed the release date of Hai Jawani toh Ishq Hona Hai. Starring Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde, Mrunal Thakur, Mouni Roy, and others, the comedy drama is directed by David Dhawan and will hit theaters on April 10, 2026. 

Sharing the update, the makers captioned it, "Double the trouble, triple the fun! Jab...'Hai Jawani toh Ishq Hona Hai' hits cinemas on 10th April 2026."

Reacting to the announcement, one fan wrote, "Exciteddddd. This is gonna be super fun." Another shared, "Mouni x Mrunal." " 2026 noooooo i can't wait for that long," read a comment. Several fans expressed excitement about Varun and Mouni's collaboration.

A source close to the development said, “It’s a quirky title in sync with the world that David Dhawan is looking to create with Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur, and Sreelela. It’s a fun family entertainer with the love triangle of the trio at the center. David Dhawan has cracked a concept that’s fresh and original, and is confident to recreate the magic of comedies on the big screen again.”

“Varun is shooting today with Maniesh Paul and Kubbra Sait. The entire ensemble will be coming together as the journey progresses. Get ready for a typical David Dhawan comedy with colours, music and a big star-cast,” the source added.

A few weeks ago, Pooja Hegde shared a candid moment with Varun on her Instagram Stories. She captioned the picture, “This duo is dreaming of bread” followed by laughing emoticons. She added, “Chalo post our next schedule maybe?” with a mix of teary-eyed, thinking cloud, and pizza emojis, hinting at their camaraderie during the film’s shoot. Fans can expect an interesting cinematic experience in this much-anticipated film.

Meanwhile, Varun has Baby John, Border 2, and Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari in the pipeline.
