Director Halitha Shameem, who has helmed films like Aelay, Poovarasam Peepee, is currently working on her ambitious project Minmini. The filmmaker began shooting for the film in the year 2015 with a young cast and waited for seven long years for them to grow up and let them reprise their roles for the older versions.

While the film is set to release soon, a special screening was held for Minmini and the first review of the film called it a "beautiful cinematic experience" and an "emotionally connecting story".

Minmini gets its first review

Director Halitha Shameem, who is known for her feel-good films, is currently working on her upcoming feature Minmini. Halitha took a bold creative decision to wait for seven years for her young cast to grow up and reprise the older versions of their roles. Actors Esther Anil, Gaurav Kaalai and Pravin Kishore are part of the cast.

A special screening of the film was held recently after which the film earned its first glorious review. Producer G Dhananjeyan who watched the film appreciated Minmini to call it a “cinematic experience”, took to his social media handle to write about it.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote, "Watched #Minmini by Dir. @halithashameem at a special screening - a beautiful cinematic experience & an emotionally connecting story. Every visual by DoP #ManojParamahamsa wants us to go there. Thoroughly enjoyed this cinematic journey by the Team. Coming soon in Theatres.”

Halitha replied to this, “Happy tears as this is the first ever review on SM. Thank you very much, sir! Means a lot!”

The film is expected to have a theatrical release soon. Cinematographer Manoj Paramahamsa, who has shot the film, has also produced it along with Murali Krishnan. Khatija Rahman composed the music while Esther Anil, Gaurav Kaalai and Pravin Kishore play important characters in the project. Raymond Derrick Crasta is its editor. A release date for the film is yet to be announced.
