Hansal Mehta, a veteran filmmaker of 23 years, has shown an eye for both engaging storylines and promising actors. The filmmaker is responsible for introducing talented actors to the spotlight, such as Rajkummar Rao and Pratik Gandhi from Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story (2020). His upcoming film, which features Kareena Kapoor Khan, is tentatively titled The Buckingham Murders. Her level of expertise in her field impressed Hansal, who is not accustomed to working with big stars.

During an interaction with Mid Day, the filmmaker said that working with Kareena was a delight. She's a fantastic performer. The noir thriller in which she plays a cop represents the fusion of the director's preference for raw, hard-hitting films and her filmography's predominance of mainstream masala offerings.

When asked what will happen when these two spheres collide, Hansal said that the film will introduce people to a different side of Kareena. The filming itself was a lot of fun. The chemistry he has with Rajkummar, Pratik, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Karishma Tanna is the same with her for Hansal.

His Scoop, starring Karishma and Zeeshan, debuted on Netflix last month to widespread acclaim. The director, who has secured a multi-series agreement with the streaming platform thanks to the series's success, acknowledges that while success is great, freedom is sweeter.

Hansal said that it's like having an extra layer of protection around him. Now he has a place to share his stories where they will be received with open arms. A lot of what he learned from Scam 1992 informed his work on Scoop. One of them is that it is possible to tell genuine Indian stories if one does so honestly and engagingly and has faith in the intelligence of the audience.

The director admits that he might have been challenged for casting Karishma, a television actor, in the starring role, but that the success of Scam 1992 gave him the upper hand; that's the strength of achievement. Thanks to Scam's success, Hansal was able to get into these casting talks. Netflix's faith in Applause Entertainment's casting choice of Karishma was contingent on the company's confidence in Pratik.
