Hansal Mehta is re-introducing Harman Baweja through his upcoming series, Scoop. The actor had taken a long break from acting and was focused on producing films. Hansal had to ‘emotionally blackmail’ Harman to act in Scoop.

The filmmaker spoke to News18 and revealed the same. He said that Harman sort of gave up on his acting career. He was producing and doing well as a producer and thus, Harman had to be convinced to take up the part.

Hansal had to plead to Harman and eventually emotionally blackmail him. “I’ve known him since he was 18-19 years old. I finally told him that you have to do this for me. You are doing this for me and you’re doing this for your father. He will be proud when he sees this,” the filmmaker said.

Harman wasn’t sure since the role he plays is of a cop that he believed was smaller as compared to the other characters. Hansal then assured him that the character he plays is not a small part and that his father would be very proud when he sees his son on screen, as an actor. That is when Harman took up the role.

Scoop stars Karishma Tanna in the lead role. She plays the character of Jagruti Pathak, who is inspired from the real-life journalist Jigna Vora. The show is about her time in prison, when she was accused of J. Dey’s murder.

The show also stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Deven Bhojani and Ira Dubey in pivotal roles. It will start streaming on Netflix from June 2.
