Hansal Mehta created a storm in the country with the web show Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story. The filmmaker is set to return for a follow-up series to it, based on the Stamp Fraud. The latest news is that he will collaborate with the OTT giant SonyLIV for another series.
The series is based on RK Yadav’s book ‘Mission R&AW’ and will revolve around the exploits of Rameshwar Nath Kao, the first Chief of R&AW during a time which saw the country in turmoil with its neighbours. The show will also reportedly feature covert operations from the time which shaped the geopolitics of the subcontinent.
The show, which is backed by Almighty Motion Pictures, will be adapted to the screen by Karan Vyas. Mehta will also be the creator and showrunner on the series. The book gave its readers an insider's point of view on what happened in the intelligence agency.
“As a storyteller, my endeavour has always been to bring alive stories and explore ordinary people and their extraordinary actions. These are the men who have cemented our political and military history. Rameshwar Nath Kao was known to be a genius, about whom very little is known,” said Mehta in a press release.
Mehta, who is known for movies such as Jayate, Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar!!, and Chhal, also won the National Film Award for Best Direction for Shahid. The filmmaker’s show, Scam 1992, was a massive success and became a fan-favourite show following its release on SonyLIV.
Mehta and SonyLIV are also set to deliver Scam 2003, a web series based on the infamous Stamp Paper fraud carried out by Abdul Karim Telgi. Scam 1992, which stars Pratik Gandhi as Harshad Mehta is available to stream on Sony LIV.
