Prasanth Varma's HanuMan creates a new record in the US. It has crossed the coveted 5 million dollar mark and is still going strong.
HanuMan has shocked one and all with the way it has been performing well at the box office. Even in its third week, the Prasanth Varma film is in no mood to slow down one bit. In the US, the film has created a new record as it crossed the 5 million dollar mark earlier today, creating history.
This is not a small achievement as HanuMan was only made on a budget of Rs 20 crore and the way it has grossed over Rs 250 crore worldwide shows what kind of a hit HanuMan is at the box office. With this feat, HanuMan has become the fifth biggest Telugu hit to date in the US.
The first on the list is Baahubali 2 with 21 million dollars. Looking at the way it is going, HanuMan is also likely to cross 6 million in the days to come. The collections would have been even better if not for the release of other biggies Guntur Kaaram, Saindhav, and Naa Saami Ranga.
Both in India and the US, HanuMan had a limited release thanks to the other Sankranthi releases but things changed overnight as HanuMan started with a good reception, and the other releases started with a dull word of mouth.
Back in India, HanuMan is going strong in the Telugu states as it has now received more theatres post the Sankranthi festival which was dominated by biggies Guntur Kaaram, Saindhav, and Naa Saami Ranga. HanuMan was produced by Niranjan Reddy and he has seen massive profits. More than the money, he is being lauded for backing such a risky project that had no star value at all.
HanuMan will have multiple parts and the sequel, Jai HanuMan is already busy with its post-production, as per the news. A popular hero will be playing the main lead in this film which will be made on a huge budget. Director Prasanth Varma is also in talks with a few Hindi stars to act in the film and we need to see how all this pans out in the days to come.
