Wait is finally over! The OTT release of the much-awaited superhero blockbuster HanuMan is set to happen this week. The Hindi version of the film will premiere on JioCinema on March 16 at 8 PM.
The filmmakers are yet to reveal the streaming details of the film's other versions, including the original Telugu. They have been keeping audiences guessing about the movie's OTT release for a long time now.
The film defied the prevailing trend of becoming available for streaming within four weeks of its theatrical debut. It seemed that the filmmakers wanted to give a huge release for the movie in the Hindi heartland, where Hindi films, both original and dubbed versions, will be somewhat boycotted by major screens and theatres if they have less than an 8-week OTT release window.

However, HanuMan continues to stay away from the streaming platforms even more than eight weeks after its first theatrical release. The film first came out on January 12, coinciding with the Sankranti film festival. The movie faced some obstacles after it was released alongside Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu's Guntur Kaaram in the Telugu states. While the former received the majority of the screens, HanuMan had to do with a limited number of screens.
HanuMan's struggle at the Telugu box office continued throughout its opening weekend, leaving the filmmakers a little irked. With other Sankranti releases failing to receive critical appreciation, HanuMan managed to resonate with mass audiences. And the rest was history.
Made with a budget of about Rs 40 crore, HanuMan went on to earn more than Rs 300 crore from its worldwide collections. It became the biggest hit from the Telugu cinema this year so far.
Recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met director Prasanth Varma and the film's lead actor Teja Sajja and congratulated them on their grand success.
According to reports, the South Indian versions of HanuMan are expected to stream on ZEE5.
