The makers of Genie, the upcoming film starring actor Jayam Ravi in the lead role, released a new poster featuring actor Kalyani Priyadarshan on Friday, on the occasion of the actor's birthday. The film also stars Krithi Shetty and Wamiqa Gabbi, among others.

Kalyani, who is celebrating her birthday today, was last seen in Tamil films in Maanaadu. It was announced that the actor is part of the upcoming Tamil film Genie, headlined by Jayam Ravi. To celebrate Kalyani's birthday, the team released a new poster. Dressed in a satin top and printed pants, Kalyani looks straight into the camera as she gives a stylish pose. She is seen wearing heavy necklaces and chains and also wears a crown on her head.
Kalyani predominantly works in Malayalam and Tamil films. Genie is her third Tamil venture after the Silambarasan-starrer and anthology segment Putham Pudhu Kaalai. The actor is also awaiting the release of her Malayalam film Varshangalkku Shesham on April 11. It is directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan and has Pranav Mohanlal in the lead role.
All about Genie
Genie is directed by debutant filmmaker Arjunan Jr, who is a former associate of director Mysskin. Touted to be a fantasy drama, the film also stars actors Krithi Shetty, Wamiqa Gabbi, Devyani, and others. It is expected that the film will be VFX heavy, which will be carried out by PhantomFX, the studio behind Ayalaan. Earlier, Arjunan had revealed that the first choice for Genie was Kamal Haasan, but he could not bring him into the project.
It is backed by Vels Film International and has music by AR Rahman. The cinematography for the film is handled by Mahesh Muthuswami, while the editing is by Pradeep E Ragav. A release date for the film is yet to be announced.
