Vir Das' directorial debut, Happy Patel Khatarnak Jasoos, will hit cinemas on January 16, 2026. That film marks Imran's comeback to the screens after almost 11 years.

During a conversation on The Namrata Zakaria Show, Vir Das shared that he approached Aamir three years ago and told him that if he doesn't produce it, no one will and Khan responded with, "No pressure."

Das also said that the crew was nervous while preparing the 12-minute experimental film to present to Khan. Das stated, "We obsessed over it because it was 12 minutes that we were going to show him." He went on to say, "You're expecting, like, a long discussion, you know, at the end of it saying, 'Ha, but this, that, etcetera, etcetera.'" But Aamir said, "Alright," after watching the clip at his screening theatre.
