Catherine Tate is bringing her talents to Netflix, helming a new comedy series for the streaming giant in the form of the comedy series Hard Cell. The makers unveiled the trailer of the series recently, and it gives a taste into the chaos Tate has planned for viewers.

As the name suggests, the series is set in a prison for women, the fictional HMP Woldsley. Viewers are introduced to Laura, the idealistic prison governor who tries to bring the best out of the inmates under her care through her starry eyed views of what rehabilitation should look like. The series is shot in the form of a mockumentary, which acquaints us with a host of quirky characters in the prison. Tate puts her talents to good use, essaying multiple roles, including that of different prison inmates and even a male guard.

Tate had created, written and directed the upcoming series as well. She also portrays six characters on the show including prison governor Laura, male prison guard Marco,and four inmates named Ros,Ange,Big Viv and Anne Marie. Among the characters Tate plays are a mother-daughter duo as well.

The six-part British series takes place over the course of six weeks, as the inmates take part in a musical production, one of the rehabilitation measures initiated by Laura. Christian Brassington, Niky Wardley, Lorna Brown,Caroline Harding, Jola Olajide and Duncan Wisbey also star in the series.

Hard Cell will be available to stream on Netflix from April 12 onwards
