When Telugu superstar and politico Pawan Kalyan’s latest, Hari Hara Veera Mallu failed to ignite the box office, the immediate reaction on social media was that the film would be on OTT quite early. An on or before 30-days from theatrical release date was mooted, and, accordingly, August 22, was speculated to be the day that the film makes its way to the streamer, which, in this case, was Amazon Prime Video. This, of course, had not been confirmed by the team or the platform.

However, on August 19, the makers took to social media about Hari Hara Veera Mallu’s OTT debut and turns out, it was to drop even earlier. On August 20 Hari Hara Veera Mallu became available on Prime Video in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. Kannada and Hindi versions are expected in the coming days.
Hari Hara Veera Mallu was a project started by director Krish Jagarlamudi, but then he excused himself midway, after repeated delays in production. Eventually, AM Jyoti Krishna, the son of producer AM Rathnam. Critics and audiences alike had called out the distinctive differences in filmmaking patterns in the first and second half of the film, with the latter the worst of the lot and said to be Jyoti Krishna’s work.
The film’s VFX was the other big issue, with its poor quality forcing the makers to replace several segments with new footage after the release. This, though, did not help Hari Hara Veera Mallu’s box office prospects. In a recent interview, Jyoti Krishna had made scathing remarks about the negative reviews the film received, claiming that reviewers lacked maturity and did not see the ‘larger picture’.
Meanwhile, Hari Hara Veera Mallu was intended to be a two-part project and the makers have convinced Krish Jagarlamudi to return to helm it. According to reports, nearly 30% of the sequel -Yuddhabhoomi – has already been shot.
