Hari Hara Veera Mallu, according to reports, was made at a whopping Rs 250 crore, but that does not reflect in the quality of the making of the Pawan Kalyan starrer, which audiences state features the worst VFX visuals in the history of Indian cinema in the last 20 years. And if that isn’t jarring enough, the inconsistency in story-telling between the first and second half is also a major dampener. Audiences are convinced that Krish Jagalamudi, who envisioned the epic, worked on the first half, while the second was cobbled together by producer AM Rathnam’s son, AM Jyoti Krishna, after the former excused himself from the project.

Hari Hara Veera Mallu Part 2: Not interested if Jyoti Krishna helms it, say netizens

Hari Hara Veera Mallu had faced multiple delays in production, following which Krish decided against completing it. Jyoti Krishna’s handling of the film, say audiences has changed things around, so much so that it is no longer the film that Krish intended to make. In fact, they have gone as far as to say that if Jyoti Krishna directs the sequel as well, which is, reportedly, about 30% done, they will not be interested in seeing it.

Despite the film’s flaws, the performances of the cast, especially leading man Pawan Kalyan are being lauded. The action sequences, some of which Pawan reportedly choreographed, are top notch, but the overall impression on Day 1 of Hari Hara Veera Mallu is that it’s a lost opportunity. Weak story-telling, poor VFX and middling music by Keeravani are among the most commonly commented about issues of the film. “The first half was super, but the second half is bad and feels like it was completely done against green mat,” they said.

The question that remains is if Pawan Kalyan fans and neutral audiences will look beyond the obvious flaws and enjoy it for the leading man’s presence. It is, after all, a film that is meant to complete its story in the second part. Perhaps the makers can redeem themselves in the sequel!
