Amazon Prime Video has announced that its comedy series Harlem will return for a second season with cast members Meagan Good, Grace Byers, Shoniqua Shandai, and Jerrie Johnson.

The show is created and executive produced by Tracy Oliver along with Amy Poehler, and Pharrell Williams also serving as executive producers. 

Harlem follows four women living in the titular New York burrough which is considered the mecca of Black culture in America. 

Camille (Good) is a popular young anthropology professor at Columbia University whose having a tough time navigating her love life; Tye (Johnson) is a successful, queer dating-app creator who has a hard time being vulnerable in romantic relationships; Quinn (Byers) is a hopeless romantic and a fashion designer whose label is backed by her wealthy parents, and she's trying to give back to the world with her philantrophic efforts; and Angie (Shandai) is an extrovert and a singer who lives rent-free in Quinn's fabulous apartment.

"When I walked into a bar in Harlem and overheard folks excitedly discussing the show, I knew we had a hit," Oliver said about Season 1's instant success in a press release. Harlem has resonated with so many people and I'm beyond grateful to Amazon for giving it a second season. Most of all, I'm excited to reunite with the beautiful cast.”

Since its release in December last year, Harlem has received a a GLAAD Award nomination for its inclusive portrayal of LGBTQ+ storyline featuring Tye, and an NAACP Award for its depiction of Black culture.

The press release states that Season 2 of the show will see the four girlfriends "level up from their 20s into the next phase of their careers, relationships, and big city dreams."
