The Big Bull has finally dropped on Disney+ Hotstar VIP and Abhishek Bachchan fans are scrambling to clear their schedules for it. The Kookie Gulati film is based on the 1992 securities scam of stock broker Harshad Mehta, leading to the biggest financial fraud of India in that decade.

Though The Big Bull was intended for a theatrical release, it ultimately released digitally on Disney+ Hotstar today due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This Ileana D’Cruz, Ram Kapoor and Mahesh Manjrekar starrer had been an anticipated film for long and was expected to be a gripping watch.

Abhishek Bachchan, in conversation with The Indian Express, revealed that his portrayal of the morally dubious Harshad Mehta, is one that is rooted in reality, shedding his grand exterior.

Unlike Scam 1992, which has emerged as India’s highest rated OTT show, The Big Bull features the character of Harshad Mehta reinvented as anti-hero Hemant Shah. The film traces his humble beginnings and takes the audience through his booming success later in life. Like Scam 1992 cleared, it was his success that cause many brushes with law enforcement agencies.

Available for streaming from 7:30 pm on April 8 on Disney+ Hotstar VIP, The Big Bull also portrayed the intricacies of the Indian stock market and economy in the 1990s.
