Harshika Poonacha has always been very vocal about the warm welcome she has got in Bhojpuri films, an industry that she says she has quite a few projects lined up in. The actress is currently in London, where she is shooting for her third Bhojpuri project, Sanam Mere Hum Raaz, opposite Ritesh Pandey and directed by Bunty.

In the film, Harshika plays an Indian-origin Britisher, who studies in Scotland and chances upon the hero during a visit home in London. The character, she says, is independent and carefree, with no worries about how the world perceives her, although she is clear about how to lead her life without troubles.

Sharing images from the set on social media, Harshika had written, "To New Beginnings in the Newyear 🥳

Incidentally, Harshika shot for her Bhojpuri debut, Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke, opposite Pawan Singh, in London in 2020. She followed that up with Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo. In an earlier interview with OTTplay, when she had been signed up for the Kannada film Kaalanagini, directed by Vishruth Naik, Harshika had said, “The welcome that I have got in the Bhojpuri industry is nothing short of phenomenal and I have quite a few films lined up there.”

Harshika, who had signed up for Kaalanagini in October, has already finished shooting and dubbing for it. Before joining the set, she had told us, “As the title suggests, Kaalanaagini is the tale of a ‘naagini’ who can shapeshift and become human and certain events that happen to her. I’ve always imagined myself to be royalty and like to be decked up in such finery; Kaalanaagini has me as the snake queen, who protects her subjects. She can also turn human, which will allow me to live out my fantasy onscreen. The narrative follows my character and how she ends up falling in love with a human, played by Manoj Puttur.” In Sandalwood, the actress is also part of two other films, Hagga and Thaytha, which are also ready.
