Ayushmann Khurrana has made a name for himself for his careful selection of films, most of which transcend mere entertainment to offer food for thought to the viewers. Bollywood is going through a rough patch of late, with many big ticket releases failing to make a mark at the box office. It seems that in light of the situation, Ayushmann has made an altruistic move. It was reported that the actor has slashed his fees in a ‘producer friendly move’.

According to a report in Pinkvilla, Ayushmann has ‘restructured’ his remuneration and signing fees so as to make them more ‘producer friendly’. The actor reportedly generally charges a signing fee of Rs 25 crores. After the restructure, Ayushmann would charge Rs 15 crores as signing fees, and then the remaining Rs 10 crore and the share of profits would be contingent upon the performance of the film after its release. So essentially, this means the actor could earn more if his film performs well at the box office, and the film’s producers are also relieved of the burden of at the time of mounting the project.

However, according to Bollywood Hungama, the actor had reportedly slashed his fees from Rs 25 crores to Rs 15 crores. According to the report, the move comes after the lacklustre performance of Ayushmann’s previous two releases, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui and Anek, at the box office. A source told the portal that the producers of the star’s upcoming films had requested Ayushmann to support them during the ‘tough times’, and the actor had decided to make Rs 15 crores his new market rate.

Meanwhile, Ayushmann will next be seen in Anubhuti Kashyap’s directorial debut, Doctor G. The medical comedy, written by Anubuti, Sumit Saxena, Saurabh Bharat and Vishal Wagh, will see him share the screen with Rakul Preet Singh, Shefali Shah and Sheeba Chaddha. Doctor G will be released on October 14.
