Earlier, it was reported that Telugu star Sai Dharam Tej will be joining forces with director Sampath Nandi for the much-anticipated mass entertainer Gaanja Shankar, which was earlier tentatively titled SDT17. The film, backed by S Naga Vamsi of Sithara Entertainments, had even released a creative poster announcing the project. However, according to the latest updates, the film has been shelved.
Reports suggest that the Virupaksha star had demanded a hefty amount of Rs 15 crore as remuneration which the makers were not ready to offer. The film has now been shelved due to financial issues and may be taken up later. However, as of now the actor will be focussing on other projects that he has signed up for.
Earlier when the film was announced, the makers had released a poster with Sai Dharam Tej, sporting the tattoo of Lord Shiva’s trishul, hinting at an action-packed entertainer. Pooja Hegde was roped in to play the female lead in this actioner. Interestingly, her last Telugu film was F3: Fun and Frustration, which released a year ago.
Meanwhile, Sai Dharam Tej has signed a light-hearted film by the makers of Virupaksha, Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra. However, the project is yet to begin. He was last seen in Bro, alongside powerstar Pawan Kalyan.
Meanwhile, the Telugu actress will be next seen opposite Shahid Kapoor, in a cop investigative thriller Deva. The film is directed by Malayalam director Rosshan Andrrews in his Hindi directorial debut. Deva follows a brilliant yet rebellious police officer investigating a high-profile case. As he delves deeper into the case, he uncovers a web of deceit and betrayal, leading him down a thrilling and dangerous path.
