The reboot goes by the same title as the original series. The upcoming series is not completely a reboot but rather a modern-day take on Gossip Girls. The reboot is set in the same school, about a decade after the events of the original Gossip Girls series takes place. However, the reboot will see different characters from the original series but in the same premise. The upcoming series will be following the same story as the original one that was based on a novel of the same name, written by Cecily von Ziegesar.

Gossip Girl will feature Emily Alyn Lind as Audrey Hope, Eli Brown as Otto Bergmann IV, Whitney Peak as Zoya Lott, Thomas Doherty as Max Wolfe, Jordan Alexander as Julien Calloway, Evan Mock as Aki Menzies, Zión Moreno as Luna La, Savannah Lee Smith as Monet de Haan and Tavi Gevinson as Kate Keller. The omniscient Gossip Girl narrator Kristen Bell will reprise her role in the reboot series.

The reboot series is developed, written and executive produced by Joshua Safran. The series is produced by Fake Empire and Alloy Entertainment in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Studios. Lis Rowinski of Fake Empire serves as co-executive producer.
