HBO Max unveils character posters for James Gunn-created Peacemaker series

Get ready to welcome back the most aggressive pacifist onto the silver screen yet again. The makers of the upcoming The Suicide Squad spinoff series, Peacemaker has unveiled the latest character posters from the series, which offers a closer look into the characters from the John Cena led show.

The posters, which were released on the official social media handles of the series and HBO Max, features the titular protagonist as well as six other characters. They include the characters of Vigilante, John Economos, Emilia Harcourt, Leota Adebayo and Clemson Murn, portrayed by Freddie Stroma, Steve Agee, Jennifer Holland, Danielle Brooks and Chukwudi Iwuji respectively. Also making an appearance is a bald eagle named Eagly, Peacemaker’s sidekick and trusted animal companion.

Each poster features the characters standing against a battered, rusty metallic sheet bearing the design of the American flag. A few heroes that stand out include Vigilante, who is seen holding a pink plastic flamingo figurine, and of course Peacemaker himself who is seen giving a salute while being covered in blood splatters.

The upcoming series is a spin off of the 2021 film,The Suicide Squad. Both the original film and the spinoff series are helmed by Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn.

Peacemaker is based on the DC Comic character of the same name created by Joe Gill and Pat Boyette. The original character’s real name is Christopher Smith, a diplomat who is committed to bringing about world peace, ironically making use of violent methods to do so.He made his comic book debut in 1966 while his first live action screen appearance was in the 2021 film.

Peacemaker will be available to stream on HBO Max from January 13, 2022.
