Actor Indresh Malik has garnered praise for his performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The actor plays the role of Ustadji in the series, which is streaming on Netflix. For Heeramandi, Indresh had to perform an intimate scene with his male co-star Jason Shah, who is seen as British officer Cartwright. In an interview with ETimes TV, Malik admitted he was initially hesitant to perform the scene with Jason.

Speaking with the entertainment portal, Indresh Malik aka Ustadji opened up about doing an intimate scene with Jason Shah in Heeramandi. "I was initially sceptical and hesitant," he said.
Before performing the scene, Indresh spoke to his co-star Jason for a few minutes. "I had never been in such close proximity with a male before. The character was queer, and portraying that level of male intimacy was necessary to convey the emotion. We discussed it, and Sanjay sir allowed us to improvise within the set boundaries," added Indresh.
Malik further revealed he and Jason made each other comfortable before doing the intimate scene. One fine evening, Indresh discussed the scene with Shah. They decided to handle the scene independently, and everything went with the flow. The actor said there was no need for them to overthink.
Heeramandi star cast
Created by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Heeramandi boasts an ensemble star cast. Sanjeeda Sheikh, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari and Manisha Koirala form the female cast of the magnum opus. On the other hand, Taha Shah Badussha, Fardeen Khan, Adhyayan Suman and Shekhar Suman are also an integral part of the series.
