Manisha Koirala has garnered praise for her performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi: The Dimaond Bazaar. The actress played the role of courtesan Mallikajaan in the Netflix series. After Heeramandi dropped on the OTT platform, the series received positive feedback from critics and audiences alike. Interestingly, the 53-year-old actress got a thumbs up for her performance in Heeramandi from veteran actress Rekha.
Rekha's reaction to Manisha Koirala's Heeramandi performance
Veteran actress Rekha called Manisha Koirala a day after the premiere of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. In an interview with Filmygyan, Manisha Koirala revealed the senior actress' reaction to her performance in the Sanjay Leela Bhansali show.
"Bachcha, I was praying that if I don’t do this role, you should do it. My prayers have come true. You have done it marvellously; you have gone through so much in life and you have brought life to the character," Rekha told Manisha Koirala.

After getting this reaction from the senior actress, Manisha Koirala got teary-eyed. She called Rekha a 'goddess'. "I love her. I had the opportunity of knowing her," she told the portal. Manisha added that the veteran actress is a graceful, poetic and beautiful person.

Earlier, in an interview with OTTplay, Manisha Koirala opened up about playing the role of Mallikajaan in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. The actress told us that she wanted to bring a human aspect to her character in the web series. She mentioned that Mallikajaan is not an out-and-out evil character. However, she wanted a human element in the role.
Meanwhile, the star cast of Heeramandi also includes Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sharmin Segal and Sanjeeda Sheikh. On the other hand, Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman, Adhyayan Suman and Taha Shah Badussha are also an integral part of the series.
