One of the finest experimental Telugu films to have released in theatres in the recent times, Hello Meera, written and directed by Srinivasu Kakarla is now out on OTT. Gargeyi Yellapragada, who shot to fame with Evvarikee Cheppoddu earlier, played the only character in the road thriller, which opened to encouraging responses after it hit screens a few weeks ago. The director was a former assistant of director Bapu.

After a brief theatrical run, Hello Meera premiered on OTT the previous weekend. Amazon Prime Video acquired its post-theatrical streaming rights. Padma Kakarla bankrolled the film under Lumiere Cinema. S Chinna had scored the music for the film which had cinematography by Prashanth Koppineedi and was edited by Rambabu Medikonda. Hiranmaye Kalyan wrote the dialogues.

As the title suggests, the film revolves around a 20s something girl Meera. She is set to enter wedlock with Kalyan and is finalising last-minute formalities for the big day in Vijayawada. While she’s on her way back home, a cop from Hyderabad asks her to report to the station at the earliest. Meera’s abusive ex-boyfriend Sudheer has just attempted suicide while mentioning her name in his suicide note. Where’s the tale headed?

With terrific sound design, impressive background score and immersive cinematography, Hello Meera is a winner both on the creative and technical fronts. Gargeyi holds her own in a challenging role, keeping audiences invested in a 100-minute narrative. Sri Sai Kiran wrote the lyrics for the numbers sung by Sameera Bharadwaj, Deepak Blue. Aditya Music acquired its audio rights.

“Hello Meera is a very well-made road thriller that doesn’t get too conscious of being a single-actor film. The gripping premise is backed by an equally impressive screenplay and a fabulous and equally vulnerable performance by Gargeyi Yellapragada. The cinematography, sound design and background score enrich the viewing experience without allowing much space for monotony,” OTTplay’s review of the film reads.
